Mumbai: Aamchi Mumbai has got another big success in fighting Corona. All eligible beneficiaries above 18 years of age in Mumbai have been fully vaccinated with two doses of COVID-19 vaccine. Thus Mumbai has become the first major city in the country to fully vaccinate 100% of its citizens. It has the highest vaccination coverage among all 36 districts of Maharashtra.
BMC informed that it has given second dose to 92,42,888 beneficiaries on Tuesday against the original target of 92,36,500. BMC’s Executive Health Officer Mangala Gomre has confirmed that Mumbai has achieved the target of full immunization, more than 14 months after the nationwide corona virus vaccination campaign.

4.15 lakh booster doses
As of Tuesday, Mumbai vaccinated its entire adult population of 92.39 lakh people with two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, officials said. BMC Additional Commissioner Suresh Kakani said that it is indeed a proud moment for us. The beginning was a bit slow, but gradually it reached its peak. There are still more than 350 vaccination centers in Mumbai where retired nurses are also involved for immunization. Mumbai crossed 50 per cent vaccination coverage last October. The city has so far delivered 2.05 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses since the start of the massive immunization program in January 2021. Of which 4.15 lakh are third dose (precautionary dose).

On Wednesday, 51 new patients were found in Mumbai in which the first two cases of new variants of corona were detected. Cases of its new variants XE and Kappa were found in Mumbai. This has put BMC on alert mode. However, no death was reported on Wednesday. With the arrival of new corona patients, the number of active patients in Mumbai has also increased to 283. The recovery rate in Mumbai has also gone up to 98 percent. Of the 51 newly found patients, four have been admitted to the hospital. At present only 22 beds are in use out of 26 thousand 151 beds. Talking about the state, a total of 108 new patients were found on this day, while 7 people have died.
