Mumbai: Two days after the inauguration, commuters had to face trouble due to the disruption of the new metro service. It was told that due to a sudden technical fault, the Metro service had to be stopped at Magathane station of Line-7 on Monday. After this the passengers were sent to another metro.
It is noteworthy that Mumbai’s second Metro 2A and 7 was inaugurated by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday. Metro services were started from 8 o’clock on Saturday night, due to which there was a lot of enthusiasm among the commuters.
MMMOCL tweeted
Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited (MMMOCL) tweeted and expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to commuters when Metro services were disrupted in Magathane at 9 am on Monday. MMRDA has handed over the responsibility of operation to MMMOCL on Saturday itself. The train which had a technical fault was sent back to the car shed. In his place, passengers were made to sit in another train.

60 thousand people traveled
On Sunday, about 60 thousand passengers traveled in the metro. Being a holiday, there were fewer passengers. Along with this the services also went down. It was told that the metro service has been increased from Monday. Time Table has been implemented.
Metro every 11 minutes
Metro is running every 11 minutes on both the lines. According to MMRDA commissioner SVR Srinivas, at present 150 ferries will run. Presently 11 rakes of Metro are available. With the arrival of new trains, the service will also increase. Presently, Metro-7 line is running between Aarey and Dahisar stations and line 2A between Dahanukarwadi and Dahisar on the 20.17 km long corridor. Metro services are being operated between 6 am to 10 pm.
CBTC System
Metro trains on both the elevated corridors are being run with the Communication Based Train Control (CBTC) signaling system. Despite driverless technology, trains are being operated by male and female pilots. According to officials, trains are being run at a speed of 70 kmph, gradually increasing their speed to 80 kmph.
Millions of tons of carbon will be reduced
According to the MMRDA, the running of the metro in the western suburb will reduce the heavy traffic on the Western Express Highway and reduce the emission of polluted carbon by about 2 million tonnes annually. Officials expect that 3 to 3.50 lakh people on both these routes soon Will start traveling More than 2,250 passengers can travel in a train at a time. The minimum ticket for a metro train ride is Rs 10, while the maximum is Rs 50 (rates will change after every 3 km). Monthly pass service is not started yet.
