Auto Sales March Data: Due to the shortage of electric parts, the production of vehicles was affected last month in March 2022. Due to this, the wholesale sales of the country’s largest car company Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai Motor fell in March. On the other hand, March 2022 was the best month so far in terms of wholesale sales for Tata Motors, Skoda and Kia India. Wholesale sales of Toyota Kirloskar India (Toyota Kirloskar Motor) were also the highest in the last five years in March and Mahindra & Mahindra also saw a sharp increase in sales of passenger vehicles.

Maruti Suzuki Sales Figures
Maruti Suzuki sent only 1,43,899 vehicles to the dealers last month, which was 7 percent less in the previous year as compared to March 2021. However, if we talk about the full financial year, the company’s sales on an annual basis increased by 13 percent to 16,52,653 units in the financial year 2021-22. The company says that nothing can be said about how long the electronic components will be supplied, so production may be affected in the current financial year 2022-23 as well. Mini cars like Alto and S-Presso sold only 15491 units last month, compared to 26453 units sold in March 2021 last year. Compact segments such as Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno and DZire saw a marginal increase in sales and 26,174 units were sold last month as against 82201 units in March 2021. On the other hand, sales of utility vehicles such as Vitara Brezza, S-Cross and Ertiga declined from 26174 to 25001 units.

Sales figures of other companies
- Hyundai Motor India’s wholesale sales fell 14 per cent year-on-year to 55287 units in March.
- March 2022 was the best month ever for Tata Motors’ passenger vehicles and shipped 42,293 units to dealers, up 43 per cent year-on-year. According to the statement issued by the company, due to the efforts made to deal with the supply related issues and on the basis of the new Forever range, it has achieved the highest annual, quarterly and monthly sales till date.
- Mahindra’s wholesale sales of passenger vehicles in March 2022 grew 65 per cent year-on-year to 27,603 units. According to the statement issued by the company, necessary steps were taken to deal with the challenges related to supply at the global level. At the same time, demand was also strong, due to which sales increased.
- Toyota Kirloskar Motor dispatched 17,131 vehicles to dealers last month, which was the highest monthly sales in the last five years. It was 14 percent more than last year in March 2021.

- Last month was the best ever for Kia and it sold 22,622 vehicles in wholesale, which was an increase of 18 per cent on a year-on-year basis. According to the company, there was an increase in sales due to the trend of people towards the recently launched Carens.
- Skoda sales grew five times on a year-on-year basis and the company sold 5,608 vehicles in March 2022. This was the highest monthly sales for the company in the last 20 years. Earlier this record was of 4923 units in June 2012.
- Due to supply constraints and chip shortage, MG Motor India’s retail sales fell 14.5 per cent last month and sold just 4721 units.
- Nissan India’s domestic wholesale sales fell 25 per cent last month and shipped only 3007 vehicles to dealers as against 4012 units last year.
