Speculations have been rife about the launch of the KUV100 electric vehicle ever since it was showcased at the Auto Expo 2020. Months ago, the company had also teased the electric cross hatch on its official website for some time. rushlane.com quoted the latest report from ET Auto as saying that the development and testing of this entry-level electric vehicle is in its final stages. It will hit the market by the end of this year. This launch is likely to take place before the XUV300 Electric, which is expected to launch in early 2023.
Unveiling the KUV100 at the 2020 Auto Expo, Mahindra had kept its initial launch price at Rs 8.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). However, this may be difficult to sustain due to the increase in input cost. Despite this, Mahindra would like to reduce its price by Rs 10 lakh, according to reports, which will make it a good competitor to the Tata Tigor EV. Tata Tigor EV is currently the cheapest electric car in the country. It is believed that the Mahindra KUV100 Electric will cover a distance of about 250 km on a single charge.
However, the electric vehicles from which Mahindra is showing power in the market include the e-Verito compact electric sedan. This electric vehicle is available to government agencies and fleet operators.
Recently, the company announced that it will launch an electric version of the XUV300 SUV in India in the third or fourth quarter of 2023. The company has said that it will put forth its complete EV strategy in the coming days. Mahindra has always had an advantage in the Indian EV space, but lack of product innovation and lack of aggressiveness has led other brands to dominate the segment. These include companies like Tata Motors, Hyundai and MG Motors. Maruti Suzuki is also preparing to launch its WagonR EV in the Indian market soon.
