Lucknow : With the assembly elections over in Uttar Pradesh, work on the One District One Product (ODOP) project has started. This ambitious project of Yogi Sarkar will be expanded in all 75 districts of the state in the coming five years.
Under ODOP, two clusters will be formed to promote the terracotta industry of the state. Both these clusters will be constructed in Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s area Gorakhpur. The terracotta art of Gorakhpur, which is famous across the country, was included under ODOP. Recently, after the formation of Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) in Gorakhpur, the work of allotment of land is being taken forward at a fast pace.

Technical cooperation to make new design
Meeting with terracotta craftsmen in Gorakhpur to get information about their needs as well as about the facilities available to them in the cluster. According to the District Industries Office, due to the establishment of the cluster, the craftsmen will get all the facilities at one place as well as technical support will also be available to make new designs according to the demand of the market. The terracotta cluster will have state-of-the-art machines for manufacturing, with the help of which people will be able to do their work easily.
2.83 crore will be spent on the construction of the cluster
The terracotta cluster in Gorakhpur is being built at Gulriha and Padar Bazar in the district. Gorakhpur Terracotta Development Cooperative Society has been formed to set up a cluster in Gulriha. The SPV will be operated under this committee only. This cluster is being set up under the Micro, Small Enterprises Cluster Development Program (MSECDP). The process of registration of the SPV has been completed and Rs 2.83 crore will be spent on the formation of this cluster. 10% of which will have to be borne by the SPV.
Apart from this, the second cluster Pastor Bazar will be made in Gorakhpur district itself. Here too Terracotta Trademo Society Pastor Bazar has been formed which is to be transferred now. About Rs 2.50 crore is to be spent on the construction of this cluster. Flatted factory complexes are also being built from Kanpur to Bareilly and Kannauj under the ODOP project. In these complexes, necessary facilities are being provided to the handicraftsmen of ODOP along with working space. In these places, handicraftsmen will be given modern packaging along with design advice from experts.
