Mumbai: The Coastal Road of Mumbai will be unique in the whole country. Like the Bandra-Worli Sealink, which became the identity of Mumbai, the Coastal Road of Mumbai will also be known for a different identity. Along the Coastal Road, the 8.5 km long banks are going to be beautified. A cycle track and an equally tall inflatable garden will be built for walking along the sea shores. Travelers traveling by Coastal Road will have a glimpse of the unique beauty of Mayanagari.
More than 50% work of Coastal Road from Cuff Parade to Bandra has been completed. The length of this sea route from Priyadarshini Park to Worli and Bandra is 8.5 km. A 65-feet wide footpath is being made for the pedestrians to walk between this distance. Apart from the cycle track, open theatre, underground parking and sanitation house are also being built here.

Worli Sea Face is going to be seen in a new look
Worli ‘Sea Face’, which has been a witness to many Bollywood songs, is soon going to be seen in a new look. More open than ever, convenience and environment will be complementary. According to the BMC, the coastal road to be dedicated to the service of Mumbaikars will bring with it other facilities as well. The garden hanging in the air in the sea is going to make the center of special attraction. The theater, which presents different art with the joy of sea waves, and is taking shape here, the widest footpath of Mumbai, whose width will be 20 meters. These facilities are taking shape adjacent to the sea shore.
This will be the look of the Coastal Road
- Shyamaldas Gandhi Flyover from Princes Street to next to Rajiv Gandhi Setu (Bandra-Worli Sealink) 10.58 km Coastal Road work in progress
- 3.45 km Coastal Road will pass through 2.1 km tunnel which will run from Shyamaldas Flyover to Priyadarshini Park.
- A new extended sea footpath is being constructed parallel to the coast from Priyadarshini Park to Worli Bandra Sea-Link.
- Presently on Netaji Subhash Marg (Marine Drive) also known as Queen of Necklaces. It is the largest ‘sea footpath’. Its length is 3.5 km. The footpath of the Coastal Road will be 8.5 km long.
- Native trees are to be planted here. Seating arrangements will also be made for the people.
- For Coastal Road, 119 lakh 47 thousand 949 square feet of land filled with soil will be available. Out of which 23.88 percent area i.e. 28 lakh 52 thousand 440 sq ft area will be covered by road work.
- A sea wall will be constructed to protect it from waves in an area of about 15,60,770 sq ft. Civil facilities will be built in the remaining 75 lakh 34 thousand 730 square feet.
- Marine footpath will also be a part of this. Three underground parking is going to be made here to park 1 thousand 864 vehicles.
More than 50 percent of the Coastal Road work has been completed. Its work is progressing according to its scheduled time. Will be dedicated to the public in the next year i.e. November 2023.
