Mumbai: In the budget of the Maharashtra government presented on Friday, an announcement has been made to boost traffic resources in other parts of the state including Mumbai-MMR. State Finance Minister Ajit Pawar, while presenting the annual budget at the Vidhan Bhavan, said that new modes of transport would be developed besides expediting the work on the ongoing traffic resources in Mumbai and MMR.
The government will work towards developing water transport to reduce the pressure on rail and road transport in Mumbai-MMR. Vasai, Bhayandar, Thane, Dombivli, Kalyan, Vashi, Airoli, Belapur, adjacent to Mumbai, will be connected by waterways. The state government will spend Rs 330 crore on the development of jetties at the above places. This work will be done with the help of the central government.

Metro-3 will be expanded
The first underground Metro-3 under construction in Mumbai will be expanded. It is noteworthy that the Colaba-Bandra-Seepz Metro-3 route will be extended from Cuffe Parade to Navinagar. By the way, about 90 percent of the civil work of Metro-3 has been completed. The state government has made a plan to take this metro to the sea.

Finance Minister Ajit Pawar has announced that the work of Shivdi-Nhava Sheva Bridge Mumbai Transharbour Link being developed through MMRDA will be completed by 2023. 18 thousand crore rupees are being spent in making the longest sea bridge of the country. About 70 percent of this work has also been completed. There is a plan to further connect this bridge with the Mumbai-Pune Express Highway.

Finance Minister Ajit Pawar has said that he will give impetus to the proposed bullet train project from Mumbai to Hyderabad. For this the state government will contact the center. Similarly, Pawar informed about the commencement of land acquisition for the Rs 16,039 crore Nashik-Pune Medium High Speed Railway project.

One thousand new buses will be made available for the convenience of the ST employees and passengers who have been agitating for the last 4 months demanding merger with the government. By the way, the state government has planned to run 3 thousand new green buses. Funds will also be made available for modernization of 103 bus stands in the state. 3 thousand 303 crores will be given to the Transport Department.
5000 E-Charging Station
5000 e-charging stations will be set up to promote e-vehicular traffic across the state including Mumbai. This decision has been taken in view of the increasing use of electric vehicles.
