BharatPe cofounder Shashvat Nakrani: BharatPe cofounder Shashwat Nakrani claimed that the company’s board “acted swiftly and decisively to maintain good corporate governance.” In an Economic Times report, Nakrani said this while referring to the audit report of Price WaterhouseCoopers (PwC) placed before the board on March 1.
Nakrani sent internal memo to the employees
Nakrani, in an internal memo sent to employees, said, “Even though the content of the inquiry report is confidential and as a board member, I am not at liberty to disclose its results, I am proud that our board has approved the corporate Has acted swiftly and decisively to maintain governance.”
After being removed from BharatPe, Ashneer Grover said, “There is no problem in sleeping on the ground”
Grover accused of fabricating a false story
Nakrani said about the recent controversy involving his fellow cofounder and former BharatPe MD Ashneer Grover, “One must keep in mind that this is a fallacy and not a norm.”
Nakrani alleged in the note, “Ashneer sent his resignation to the board on the night of March 1, 2022, minutes after receiving the agenda of the board meeting on the results of the PwC report. It is sad that he (Grover) also came forward and tried to fabricate a false narrative about the company which we had built up in the right spirit.”

Spoke on this controversy for the first time
This is the first time that Nakrani spoke directly about the controversy that BharatPe has been grappling with since the beginning of the year.
In February, he issued a statement endorsing the presence of BharatPe Chief Executive Suhail Sameer on the board. He had issued this statement after Grover asked for Sameer’s removal.
In an internal note, he wrote, “It is time to put an end to the rumours and unite.”
The company will focus on “culture”
Nakrani wrote, going forward the management will focus on the company’s “culture”. He said, “Our culture is most important and that is what we are. I promise you that we will make BharatPe not only the best place to work in India, but a place where we all stay connected.”
