The wait for the upcoming season of IPL 2022, the Mahakumbh of Cricket, is over. By the end of this week, BCCI will release the complete schedule of IPL. BCCI had already confirmed this time that IPL 2022 will start from 26 March and the title match i.e. the final match will be played on 29 May. The complete schedule of IPL 2022 has not been released yet. According to information received from a BCCI official, the entire schedule will be released by Sunday. Some relaxation can be given to foreign players in IPL 2022.
A BCCI official said, “The full schedule of IPL 2022 can come by Sunday. We were left with some important work related to IPL 2022, which is almost over now. 25 percent spectators will be allowed in IPL matches. Which is a great start and will be taken forward in view of the COVID-19 situation.”
However, BCCI will release the schedule of league matches only and the schedule of playoff matches will be released later. BCCI still wants to have playoff matches in Ahmedabad. But, a decision in this matter will be taken during the tournament itself. He said, “It is too early to say where the playoff (IPL 2022 Play-off) will take place. Ahmedabad is a better option. If we get at least 50 per cent audience permission, then we will think about that too. It is expected that the play-off schedule will be announced during the opening matches of IPL 2022.

Quarantine period will be reduced for foreign players
It is believed that there is also a possibility of giving approval to reduce the quarantine period for foreign players participating in IPL 2022. Whereas BCCI had earlier told all the teams that all foreign players would have to compulsorily stay in Quarantine for 5 days. BCCI may reconsider this.
In view of the huge reduction and control in the cases of Corona, the BCCI is considering a quarantine of only 3 days for the players. Especially for those players who will come directly to India after playing the second series. Players from Australia, England, South Africa and Bangladesh will participate in IPL 2022 after playing their series. Players participating in IPL will come to India after the series between England and West Indies, Australia and Pakistan series, South Africa and Bangladesh.
A BCCI official said, “The cases of COVID have come down. That’s why we are considering increasing the quarantine period to 3 days instead of 5 days. But, a decision is yet to be taken on this. Most foreign players will come to India’s grounds after spending time in the bio-bubble. That’s why we would not like to increase the quarantine period much.”
