In the last three days under the guidance of District Superintendent of Police Bachchan Singh, 252 actions have been taken under the Cigarettes and Tobacco-related Substances, COTPA Act by running a special campaign. Under which a fine of Rs 51,600 has been recovered from the concerned. By issuing orders from time to time on behalf of the Maharashtra government, action is taken under the Prohibition of Cigarettes and Tobacco-related trade and commerce production, supply and distribution Act 2003 (COTPA Act 2003) throughout the state.
Action is taken against the BD shops that do not follow the prohibitory rules against the sale of tobacco-related substances in the 100 yard premises of educational institutions, so that the young generation of schools and colleges do not become a victim of drugs. Under this, a fine of Rs 39,150 was recovered by taking 232 actions.
Similarly, in the year 2020, under the COTPA Act, a fine of Rs.400 has been imposed by taking 74 actions and in the year 2021, a fine of Rs.1200 has been collected by taking a total of 4 actions. Action has been taken on illegal businesses as soon as District Superintendent of Police Bachchan Singh took over in the district.
In the last three days, by running a special campaign against cigarettes and other tobacco-related substances, a total of Rs 51,600 fine has been recovered by taking 252 actions under the COTPA Act.
