UP Assembly Elections 2022: Just before the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections (UP Election 2022), the case of bullets fired on the vehicle of AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi has gained momentum. On this matter, now the state Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said, “We are in democracy. We believe in ballot not on bullet.”
In an exclusive interview to News18, CM Yogi said, “We are in a democracy. We believe in ballot not bullet. Any such incident (attack on Owaisi) is unacceptable. We may be ideologically different. That cannot be allowed to anyone.”
Chief Minister Yogi further said, “I also appeal to political parties, be careful while speaking from the stage. Do not try to hurt religious sentiments with your speeches.”
Regarding the security of Asaduddin Owaisi, he said that we have already given him security. He said that the areas where Owaisi was on tour had not been informed in advance. Police is probing the whole matter.
When asked whether Owaisi can influence Muslim voters? Adityanath said, “Owaisi is the leader of his party. Every leader of a party is big.”
Owaisi refuses to take ‘Z’ category security
Owaisi’s car was fired upon on Thursday in Hapur, Uttar Pradesh. Owaisi is campaigning for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. He was returning to Delhi after campaigning when the incident happened.
Following this incident, the central government on Friday decided to provide ‘Z’ category security to prominent Muslim leader and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi by commandos of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). However, Owaisi refused to take security and demanded the government to impose UAPA against the accused.

In the case of firing on Owaisi, the police have arrested two accused, who have been sent on the remand of 14.

On his relations with Muslims, Adityanath said, “My relationship with Muslims is the same as their relationship with me.” He said, “We have a Muslim minister (Mohsin Raza) in the cabinet, we have a Muslim minister in the central government (Mukhtar Naqvi). Arif Mohammad Khan is the governor of Kerala. We are not against any community, but who People are against India, we are against them. After independence, if anyone has tried for Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, it is BJP.”
