400 New Vande Bharat Trains
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced to run 400 new Vande Bharat trains in the next three years. Their rake will be made in the country itself. These 400 trains are in addition to the 102 Vande Bharat trains that have been announced earlier. This means that the Railways will run more than 100 Vande Bharat trains every year. What is Vande Bharat Train?
Vande Bharat Trains are semi automatic trains. It does not have an engine. It consists of 16 coaches. All its doors are automatic. Its maximum speed is 180 kmph. At present, two Vande Bharat trains are running in the country. The first one runs from Delhi to Varanasi. The second one runs from Delhi to Katra. If more than 100 new Vande Bharat trains run every year then your travel experience will be completely changed. You will be able to reach your destination in less time.
100PM Gati Shakti Cargo Terminal
The second big announcement is regarding PM Gati Shakti Cargo Terminals. The Finance Minister has said that 100 PM Gati Shakti Cargo Terminals will be built in the next three years. He said that with these multimodal logistics facilities, there will be a big change in the existing mode of transportation of goods in the country. This will make it possible to transport goods from one place to another in less time.
One Station One Product Scheme
Railways has also made a special announcement for the farmers. Railways will develop ‘One Station One Product’. Under this scheme, a station in that area will be identified to promote local products. Then, all necessary facilities will be developed at this station to transport that particular product to other parts of the country. Apart from this, railways will also run postal carriages. This will provide a new option for transportation of parcels.
2.38 lakh crore for capital investment
This time in the budget, the Finance Minister has announced a capital investment of Rs 2.38 lakh crore for the Railways. Out of this, Rs 1 lakh crore will be raised from external sources. Last year, the Railways got Rs 2.15 lakh crore towards capital expenditure. This time getting more money means that the railways will continue to invest heavily in infrastructure.
The focus will continue on infrastructural facilities
Actually, the railways is focusing on improving the infrastructure. Electrification of railway lines is being done at a rapid pace. The signaling system is being made state-of-the-art.
