Uttar Pradesh Polls 2022: Recently, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, accepting the years-old superstition running in the politics of Uttar Pradesh, believed that the leader who comes to Noida (Gautam Buddh Nagar), the neighboring city of the national capital, is not the Chief Minister. . He had said in a program that he does not come to Noida because the CM who comes there leaves. However, the current Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath does not believe in these superstitions.
In the UP assembly elections 2022, CM Yogi is continuously breaking this superstition that has been maintained for more than 36 years. Yogi Adityanath is the first CM who is not afraid of going to industrial hub Noida. On January 19, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was in Noida for the second time in three days when he visited GIMS in NCR’s Greater Noida to review the facility for serious COVID-19 patients.
What is superstition?
Actually, the superstition known as ‘Noida Jinx’ is that visiting Noida starts bad days for Chief Ministers and he is not re-elected as CM. UP CM is constantly visiting Noida. During his visit to Noida recently, he had said that he would break this superstition this time. Since 1985, no one has become CM in UP for the second time in a row. The last time a sitting CM returned to power in UP was ND Tiwari of the Congress party in 1985.
The seven-phase Uttar Pradesh election, starting on February 10, is being considered a battle between the incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party. In the first phase, polling will be held on February 10 in three seats Noida, Jewar and Dadri in Gautam Buddh Nagar district. Chief ministers before Yogi Adityanath are said to have believed in this superstition and thus avoided going to Noida when they were in power.
Chief ministers who came to Noida lost power
For example, Akhilesh Yadav did not attend the Asian Development Bank summit held in Noida in May 2013, while the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was the chief guest of the event. Yadav often used to inaugurate projects in the city through video link. Yadav also inaugurated Yamuna Expressway in Noida through remote control from Lucknow. Not only this, the SP chief met Dadri lynching victim Mohammad Akhlaq’s family in Lucknow instead of Dadri.
Before Akhilesh Yadav, other chief ministers of Uttar Pradesh including Mulayam Singh Yadav, Kalyan Singh, ND Tiwari and Rajnath Singh also avoided going to Noida. When Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati was the chief minister between 2007 and 2012, she tried to break this myth. In November 2007 she became the first UP CM to step into Noida in 13 years, when she attended a wedding and an expo in the city. Later in 2011 she was in Noida to inaugurate the Dalit Prerna Sthal in Noida.

However, a year later, he lost power in the 2012 assembly elections and the Noida dispute came back into the limelight. He is believed to have lost power in 1997 also due to his visit to Noida. This superstition began in June 1988 when the then Chief Minister of Congress Veer (Veer) Bahadur Singh was asked to step down by the central leadership. Singh had incidentally returned from Noida when he was asked to resign. After this, ND Tiwari in 1989, Kalyan Singh in 1999 was believed to have been hit by Naida. In 1995, Mulayam Singh was voted out of power within a few months of his visit to Noida.
CM Yogi claimed to break the old trend
UP CM Yogi Adityanath is confident that he will break the old trend this time. In his election rallies, CM Yogi has been claiming that he will return to power with a thumping majority. In a program last year, he had said that I am returning. What did not happen in the last three decades will happen next year. During his Noida visit, CM Adityanath told reporters, “It was even more important for me to come here, because the previous chief minister was afraid to come to Gautam Budh Nagar.”
Yogi visited Noida several times as the Chief Minister. CM Yogi’s first visit to Noida was on 23 September 2017. He had visited the city to check arrangements ahead of PM Narendra Modi’s visit for the inauguration of the Botanical Garden-Kalkaji Magenta Metro line. Two days later, on 25 September, he accompanied PM Modi to inaugurate the metro line. He had also held several meetings with officials of various departments of the city. Since then he has been visiting Noida continuously. He claims he will break this myth.
