New DelhiThe Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday slammed former Vice President Hamid Ansari for his statement on cultural nationalism and said there was a “craze” of opposition to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Now India has turned into a protest.
In a panel discussion organized digitally by the Indian American Muslim Council, Ansari said that in recent years he has experienced the emergence of trends and practices that dispute the well-established doctrine of civic nationalism and cultural Promotes a new and imaginary trend of nationalism.
She further said, “She seeks to segregate citizens on the basis of their religion, fuel intolerance and promote unrest and insecurity.” Taking a dig at Ansari for this statement, Union Minister and BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that when the country was celebrating Republic Day and the flag was being hoisted at Lal Chowk in Srinagar, at that time he was sitting on the constitutional post of the country. An attempt was made by one person to tarnish the image of the country continuously.

Naqvi said, “There was talk of intolerance in India… Questions were raised on India’s nationalism… This is the institution, which is related with ISI… It is related with all such organizations which are involved in the whole world. They continue to try and conspire to sabotage peace and harmony in the world.
“The anti-India brigade… the anti-Modi craze has now reached the height of anti-India,” he said. He said that India has cultural nationalism, we have constitutional commitment and those who are unaware of it, have reached the climax of anti-India protest against Modi.
Strongly condemning Ansari’s statement, Naqvi questioned whether a person of Hindu religion can become President or Vice President in Pakistan. He said, “Our cultural nationalism is the guarantee of secularism, tolerance is our culture, our culture. For this we do not need any certificate from anyone. (agency)
