With the arrival of these new cases, the number of infected has increased to 3,65,82,129. This includes 5,753 cases of Omicron format. This information was received from the data released by the Union Health Ministry on Friday.
Omicron cases in the country increased by 4.83 percent since Thursday. According to the updated data of the Ministry of Health till 8 am, the number of patients under treatment has increased to 12,72,073 which is the highest in 220 days. At the same time, the death toll has increased to 4,85,350 due to the death of 315 patients due to infection. The ministry said that the number of patients under treatment is 3.48 percent of the total infected, while the rate of recovery from COVID-19 at the national level has come down to 95.20 percent. On May 19, there were 2,76,110 cases of infection in 24 hours.

The number of patients under treatment has increased by 1,54,542 in the last 24 hours. The total cases of infection crossed 50 lakh on 16 September 2020, 60 lakh on 28 September 2020, 70 lakh on 11 October 2020, 80 lakh on 29 October 2020 and 90 lakh on 20 November. On 19 December 2020, these cases had crossed one crore in the country. Last year, on May 4, the number of infected had crossed 20 million and on June 23, 2021, it crossed 30 million.
