Lucknow : Aware of the Uttar Pradesh elections, the Excise Department has closed a total of 31 checkposts in districts adjoining other states and districts connected with Nepal border, which are the center of smuggling of illegal liquor. Equipped with CCTV cameras and made it live within 24 hours. Now these checkpoints can be directly monitored by the Excise Commissioner from the office of Lucknow.
In view of the 2022 assembly elections, this step has been taken by the Excise Department to prevent illegal business of liquor from these 9 states and Nepal border. With the installation of CCTV cameras, smuggling of illicit liquor and the activities of checkposts set up on the border area are being monitored directly from the office of the Excise Commissioner, Lucknow. Irregularities at the checkposts can be seen due to monitoring from the office of the Excise Commissioner. Due to which this illegal business of liquor which takes place during elections will be curbed.

In this regard, Excise Commissioner Senthil Pandian says that we have taken this step on the instructions of the Additional Chief Secretary. With the use of technology and surveillance of CCTV TV cameras, we will be able to keep an eye on the illegal business of liquor and control it. There has been an increase in the arrival of illicit liquor during election time. According to the instructions of the Election Commission, this step of the department and with the cooperation of the local police, this illegal business can be controlled.
At the same time, ADG law and order regarding CCTV cameras says that 31 checkpoints have been set up on international and inter-state borders by the excise and police departments. Teams of both the departments are doing joint checking. In this, the teams of both the departments have been engaged in 3 shifts.

At present, CCTV cameras have been installed at these districts and checkposts and they have been connected to the office of the Excise Commissioner and the work of monitoring the checkposts is going on from the commissioner’s headquarters. 9 states adjoining UP, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Delhi and Himachal Pradesh, from where illegal liquor smuggling has been taking place, now 31 checkposts of these states and 23 districts adjoining Nepal border have been installed with CCTV. has been equipped.
Two checkposts Saiyan and Fatehpur Sikri were made in the districts of Agra and Mathura adjacent to Rajasthan.
At the check posts of Naubatpur in Chandauli and Tamkuhiraj in Kushinagar, two districts adjoining Bihar, from where a total of 7 districts Sonbhadra, Chandauli, Ghazipur, Ballia, Deoria, Kushinagar (Padrauna) and Maharajganj districts can be monitored for the arrival of illicit liquor. Uttarakhand, Haryana, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh Similarly the districts adjoining Uttarakhand are Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly and Pilibhit and the districts adjoining Haryana are Saharanpur, Shamli, Baghpat, Gautam Budh Nagar, Aligarh and Mathura border Gauripur, Saharanpur of Baghpat. Monitoring will be done from the checkposts of K Sarsawa, Shamli’s Bidauli and Kairana, and Mathura’s Kosikalan. Two checkposts Saiyan and Fatehpur Sikri have been made in the districts of Agra and Mathura, adjacent to Rajasthan. The name of district Saharanpur adjacent to Himachal Pradesh is also included in this.
Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh
On the other hand, for monitoring the districts adjoining Madhya Pradesh, Agra, Etawah, Jalaun, Jhansi, Lalitpur, Mahoba, Banda, Chitrakoot, Allahabad, Mirzapur and Sonbhadra districts, Drummondganj in Mirzapur, Audhi Chowki in Sonbhadra, Chowkta in Prayagraj, Naraini in Banda. It has been connected to the commissioner’s office by installing CCTVs at the checkposts of Raksa and Ambavay, Masaura in Lalitpur and Udi in Etawah, Srinagar in Mahoba, Jhansi. The district Sonbhadra, which is connected to Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh, is also included in this.

The checkposts at Bhaupura and TP Nagar in Ghaziabad, and Ashok Nagar (Vijay Nagar) and Kalindi Kunj in Gautam Budh Nagar, districts adjoining the Delhi border, have been equipped with CCTVs. The checkposts of 9 districts adjoining the Nepal border at Bahraich, Talbaghoda in Shravasti, Chandanpur in Balrampur, Badhni, Aligarhwa, Maharajganj, Nautanwa/Sonauli, Thoothibari, Lakhimpurkhiri and Chandan Chowki have been connected with CCTV cameras. The monitoring of Pilibhit district, which is haunted by Nepal, can also be done from here. The Excise Commissioner said that the Chandan outpost of Lakhimpurkhiri would be under the supervision of the Border Security Force and the Excise Department.
Let us inform that even before this, the Excise Department has used technology to prevent adulteration during the transportation of molasses and which has shown positive results. During the transportation of molasses, the work of adulteration was done by the truck drivers. To prevent this, the department used an electronic device (Digilock and Geo Fencing technology). Which can be opened by code only in the loading and unloading premises only by the designated officer of that unit.
