- 80 percent citizens took the first dose in the department

Akola. Booster dose is being given to health workers, frontline workers and persons above 60 years of age who have taken the first and second doses from January 10 in the district today. In the meantime, vaccination has gathered pace again. In Amravati department, 80 percent citizens have completed the first dose and 46 percent citizens have completed the second dose. In view of this, now a plan has been made to give a booster dose.
Booster dose will be given to 73 thousand people of the district from January 10. In this, 14 thousand health workers, 14 thousand frontline workers and 45,060 people above 60 years of age will benefit, District Vaccination Officer Dr. Manish Sharma has given this information. He told that, out of these 12,500 persons have taken the first and second dose, hence they are eligible for booster dose. The booster dose will be available at city centers where vaccination is currently being done, as well as at tehsil hospitals and primary health centres.
Information will be given in rural areas through Davandi. He also said that daily booster dose will be made available at about 100 centers in the district. In January, health workers were given food and in February, municipal, police, revenue and district council employees were given supplements. Dr. Manish Sharma said that in the same way, priority has been given to frontliners while giving booster doses.
With the start of the third wave of corona, now the rate of corona vaccination has increased in all the five districts of Amravati division. Meanwhile, in the latest report sent by the Deputy Director of Health’s office to the government on the evening of January 8, 46.79 percent citizens have registered the second dose of corona vaccine and 80.55 percent citizens have registered information about taking the first dose. Since the corona infection in the country in March last year, in the last 10 months, citizens were queuing up for vaccination in different parts of the district.
Meanwhile, in the backdrop of festivals, there is a possibility of a third wave of corona in February, due to which the government has accelerated the vaccination campaign from the first week of January and appealed to more and more citizens to join the campaign. Amravati division has sufficient supply of both Covishield and Covaccine vaccines. In view of the third wave of Corona, the response of citizens to vaccination has increased.
