New Delhi: Usually having ‘stiffness’ in the neck is a common problem. There can be many reasons for neck stiffness and pain. For example, due to sleeping in the wrong position at night, or sitting in front of the computer for a long time, the neck also gets stiff.
Sometimes, due to climate change, stiffness and pain in the neck can also occur. This pain can occur in any part of the neck such as muscles, nerves, bones, joints and discs between bones. Some people take medicine for this but it does not give quick relief. In such a situation, you can get rid of it by trying some home remedies. Let’s know about those home remedies –
According to experts, ‘Sendha’ salt contains magnesium sulphate, which removes the problem of stiffness of the neck. It improves circulation by regulating many enzymes present in the body. This further reduces the tension from the muscles. To use it, put 2 cups of rock salt with lukewarm water in a bathtub and go to the neck for 15-20 minutes after watering it. Do this 3 times in a week.
The ‘Luo Zhen’ acupressure point on the back of the paw of the hand is also helpful in treating stiffness in the neck. For this, lightly massage the protrusion between the 2 bones located near the knuckles of the middle and index fingers and keep the pressure for a few minutes. This will give relief.

According to experts, massage is a better way to treat stiffness in the neck. Massaging relaxes the muscles as well as improves blood circulation. It helps in relieving neck pain. For this, heat the oil and apply it on the affected area and massage it for some time.
Even after applying ice, the stiffness of the neck gets cured. The cool temperature will help soothe the pain and limit the build-up of lactic acid. This will reduce the pain.
If you do not get relief from the ice, then take the help of hot compress. For this, compress the neck area with a heating pad, hot water bottle, heat wrap or towel for at least 10 minutes. You can also take hot water shower.
