Birth of Baba Amte
Social worker Baba Amte was born in a wealthy family on 26 December 1914 at Hinganghat in Wardha district of Maharashtra. His full name was Murlidhar Devidas Amte. His parents used to call him ‘Baba’. Later this became the identity of Baba Amte. Baba’s father’s name was Devidas Amte and father’s name was Lakshmibai. His father was a powerful bureaucrat in the administration of British India. Baba’s father was also a wealthy landowner of Wardha district.

Social worker Baba Amte had studied up to MA.LLB. He did his schooling at the Christian Mission School in Nagpur. After which he studied law at Nagpur University and also practiced law for several days. Baba Amte also practiced law in his native city which was very successful.
Marriage
Baba Amte married Sadhna Gulshastri in the year 1946. His wife was also closely associated with him in his social work. She believed in humanity. His wife Sadhna was popularly known as Gulshastri Tai. Who later had two children, Prakash and Vikas Amte. Please tell that both the sons of Baba Amte are doctors and she is also helping the poor.
