Bhandara, The changes made by the state government in the Maharashtra Public Schools Act are likely to adversely affect the quality of education. Therefore, a request was sent to the Chief Minister through the Tehsildar on behalf of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, demanding the state government to reconsider these changes.
It has been said in the request that in this meeting held on December 15, it was decided to amend the Maharashtra Public University Act for its political interests while attacking the autonomy of the university. The decision taken in this cabinet meeting is proposed. In the coming session, the state government intends to convert this decision into law.
With this decision of the government, that right of the Governor will also be taken away. Under which the governor, who is the chancellor of all the government universities of the state, will not be able to directly appoint the vice-chancellor. The Governor will have to choose the Vice-Chancellor from among the two names suggested by the State Government. In this way, the state government is completely interfering in the powers of the Chancellor.
A new post will be created in the university as the Vice-Chancellor in charge and the Higher and Technical Education Minister will be appointed on that post. The state government is trying to control the autonomy of universities by changing the law. The way decisions are being taken. This will increase the undue interference of political parties and leaders.
The Governor, that is, the Chancellor, is the head of all the universities and this is a total attack on their authority. Due to political pressure, this decision may have an adverse effect on all quality professors and students. The possibility of interference of the state government in every decision has increased.
This decision will increase the fear of complete degradation in the quality of universities. This decision will politicize the quality of university education. Keeping in view the interest of the students, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad has demanded immediate cancellation of this decision. A request was made regarding this demand. On this occasion, Bhandara Municipal Minister Sarthak Kumbhalkar, Aditya Deogade, Vivek Meshram, Nachiket Bandebuche etc. were present.
