Nashik: At present, a cold wave is going on in Nashik and the mercury of Niphad has once again come down to eight and a half degrees. The temperature in Nashik has also dropped to close to 11.4 degrees. That’s why the townspeople are shivering. Cold weather is expected in the coming months.
Cold winds from the foothills of Niphad are blowing directly from north towards Nashik. The Meteorological Department recorded a minimum temperature of 8.5 degrees Celsius at the Wheat Research Center at Kundwadi in Niphad tehsil. The minimum temperature of Niphad was recorded at 12 degree Celsius on December 18. The temperature dropped to 10 degree Celsius on 19 December. Now on December 20, the minimum temperature of Niphad has reached 8.5 degree Celsius. Hence, the cold weather is in spate in Niphad. In some places, bonfires are being lit to protect against the cold. Citizens dressed in warm clothes are seen moving towards the hot meal.

The Meteorological Department said that the cold weather is likely to continue till December 24. This year the rains created a ruckus in Nashik district. Nashik was also hit by heavy rains. There was heavy rain in Nandgaon and Manmad. Crops of lakhs of hectares of farmers were submerged. It was raining even after Diwali. On December 2, a day before the Ain Sahitya Sammelan, it rained in Nashik. Therefore, it is possible that in the coming time, the cold will be more intense. Climate change is having serious consequences. This has made it difficult for meteorologists to make accurate predictions.
