Navi Mumbai : Last month’s unseasonal rain has hit the onion crop. New onions have been damaged due to this rain. Due to which customers who buy it in bulk are not getting it. Due to this kind of turning away of the customers, the new onion is getting a minimum price of Re 1 per kg and maximum Rs 23 per kg in bulk. At the same time, the demand for old onion is still intact, due to which it is getting a price of Rs 4 to 34 kg in bulk.
It is worth noting that onion is coming from Maharashtra and Gujarat in the potato-onion market of APMC located in Vashi. About 26 thousand sacks of onions are coming from these two districts in the market of Vashi, which includes new and old onions. It is said that while the hard work of the farmers due to unseasonal rains on the new onion has been ruined, the old onion kept in the warehouse and cold for a long time has also started getting spoiled, due to which the new and old onions are of low quality. Can’t find bulk buyers. Due to this the price of onion has come down to its lowest level.
