Health Minister Veena George said, “The first case of Omicron was reported in Kochi, Kerala. The person concerned had returned to Kochi from UK on 6th December. After which he was tested for COVID-19 on 8 December which was found positive.
George said, “The high risk passengers sitting next to him have been informed. There is no need to panic, his condition is stable. At the same time, his wife and mother were also found to be Corona positive. All have been shifted to the isolation ward. Necessary precautions are being taken.”

At the same time, people who came in contact with these people are being traced and their corona test is being done.
It is to be known that, in view of the threat of Omicron, the central government has ordered the states to monitor and test people coming from other countries including at-risk countries. After which RT-PCR test is being done at all the airports of the country for all the migrants coming from abroad. During this, if a passenger is found corona positive, then his sample is being sent to the National Viral Laboratory in Pune.
