Pimpri: Ayurveda is considered to be the oldest medical science. Ayurveda was born in India. Ayurvedic treatment system is also being promoted by the central government. The Ministry of AYUSH has mentioned several remedies in Ayurveda during the COVID period and citizens used it extensively from decoction to Chyawanprash. However, Ayurveda has been given a full stop at the Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. During this corona period, information about the Ayurveda department in YCM being closed for the last two years has come to the fore.
In the YCM of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, civil medicine comes from every corner of the city as well as the state. Ayurveda has been described as a panacea for many diseases, it is cheaper than allopathy and has no side effects. During the Corona period, the Ministry of AYUSH was instructing citizens to drink various herbs to increase immunity. It is said that citizens also benefited from this. Despite this, the Ayurveda department at Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital (YCM) has been closed for the last two years.

Whereas the Department of Ayurveda is working here for the last many years. However, during the Corona period, this department was temporarily closed like other outpatient departments (OPDs). After the outbreak of corona subsided, all the OPDs of the hospital were started, although the Ayurveda department is still closed. Every week about 60 to 70 patients come to the Ayurveda department for treatment. In view of the increasing number of these patients, a provision is being made for this department to buy medicines at the rate of Rs 14 lakh annually. Medicines worth 30 thousand rupees are still lying in the store room of YCM and the deadline for these medicines is near. Also not a single penny of the amount allotted for the purchase of Ayurvedic medicines last year has been spent. Patients coming to this department for treatment are getting frustrated due to non-starting.
