New Delhi: Bodies of five more Army personnel, who were victims of the helicopter crash in Tamil Nadu’s Coonoor, have been identified and are being sent to their home towns. Military officials gave this information on Saturday. Officials said efforts were on to identify the remaining bodies. The bodies of the Army personnel whose bodies have been identified in the last few hours are Junior Warrant Officer (JWO) Pradeep, Wing Commander PS Chauhan, JWO Rana Pratap Das, Lance Naik B Sai Teja and Lance Naik Vivek Kumar.
A senior army official said, “The bodies of the five servicemen are being sent to their family members this morning.” They are being sent by air to their home towns. India’s first Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika Rawat and General Rawat’s defense advisor Brigadier L S Lidder were cremated with full military honors at the Berar Square crematorium in Delhi on Friday evening.
General Rawat, his wife, Brigadier Lidder and 10 other defense personnel were killed when an Army MI17V5 helicopter crashed in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday. All the bodies were brought to Delhi from Sulur in Tamil Nadu on Thursday evening, a day after the accident. The unidentified bodies have been kept in the mortuary of Army Base Hospital, Delhi Cantonment.
