Raipur: The ruling party of Chhattisgarh, Congress has released the manifesto for the elections to be held in 15 urban bodies of the state. The party has made several promises to voters, including providing residential land pattas to all eligible persons, providing ration cards to all people and planning for dust and mosquito-free urban areas.
State President Mohan Markam, Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey, Forest Minister Mohammad Akbar and other senior Congress leaders released the urban public manifesto on Friday at Rajiv Bhawan, office of the State Congress Committee, Raipur, in which the party has made 30 promises to the voters.
In the manifesto, the Congress has given a lease of residential land to all eligible persons, online approval of building permission in all urban bodies, amendment in the land development rules to simplify the building permit process, construction works till December 1, 2021. It has promised to take action for regularization of CGHS, to ‘free hold’ the property of urban bodies.
Congress has said in the manifesto that ration card will be made available to all the people. Under the Mukhyamantri Slum Health Scheme in each city, home access health service will be provided by expanding the mobile medical unit.
It said that the Shri Dhanwantri Generic Medical Store scheme will be expanded to all the bodies and City Diagnostic Center will be started for affordable and high quality diagnostic and pathology service and 100 per cent households will be provided with pure water connection and for daily use. Tanker water will be released. To get rid of dust and mosquitoes, a plan will be brought in all the cities for debris and drain management and Mahila Samridhi Bazar will be made for the self-reliance of women.
In its manifesto, the party promised to construct modern toilets for men and women in business areas in the main market, to construct special toilets for women ‘Pink Toilets’ in important places of cities, to upgrade government schools with state-of-the-art facilities. It has promised to give ownership rights to the people occupying the land and promote self-employment, sell local goods and establish ‘Sea Smart’ in all the cities for women’s empowerment.
BJP state president Vishnudev Sai has called the Congress manifesto a repetition of a ‘bundle of lies’. He has said that the Congress, which is repeating false promises, should explain to the public what it has done in the name of development in three years and why they have to repeat the same false promises as soon as elections come. Polling will be held on December 20 in 15 urban bodies including four municipal corporations of ten districts of Chhattisgarh and counting of votes will be done on December 23.(Agency)
