Flipkart will now have a medicine delivery service at your doorstep. Starting with online pharmacy as part of its new Flipkart Health+ initiative, the e-commerce giant will finally offer its users access to online medical consultations and diagnostics. The recent takeover of Flipkart was done by SastaSundar Marketplace Ltd., publicly known as SastaSundar.com, the online pharmacy space.
Flipkart has announced that it has acquired a majority stake in the online pharmacy and digital healthcare platform, although it did not disclose the size of the deal. Along with this, the company has launched its Flipkart Health+ program, which aims to offer its customers access to affordable and better health services.
Many benefits are available in SastaSundar
SastaSundar.com is a renowned digital healthcare and pharmacy platform in India. It is supported by a network of over 490 pharmacies and aims to offer affordable and quality healthcare services to its customers in India. It procures products from authorized sources and delivers them across the country.
The firm also offers personal consultation through this network, thus offering better solutions for a range of health related needs. Through Flipkart Health+, the e-commerce giant in India will leverage the quality of SastaSundar in the space for end-to-end offerings in the health-technology ecosystem to customers.
Home delivery will be available through online portal in Flipkart Health+
The new initiative aims to offer quality and affordable healthcare to Indian users. For this, it is planning to start with e-pharmacy first, which means that Flipkart Health+ will allow users to buy pharmaceuticals through its online portal and get it delivered at customers’ homes.
Flipkart Health+ will report to Senior Vice President and Flipkart veteran Ajay Veer Yadav. The takeover and the new venture can be seen as an initiative by Flipkart to take on competing e-commerce firms in the country, many of whom have already entered the online pharmacy space. For example, Amazon India launched Amazon Pharmacy in Bengaluru in August last year. Tata Digital, on the other hand, had earlier this year bought online pharmacy 1mg in a similar deal to Flipkart.
