Whatsapp is the most popular messaging application in the world. It is used by about two billion people around the world. However, many times users also have to face some problems while using this Facebook-owned platform. One such flaw is related to the backup of WhatsApp chats. This flaw is often seen on the Android version of Whatsapp, while the chat is backed up, it gets stuck at 100%.
Whatsapp automatically backs up the chat history at a fixed time every day. It is not yet clear why this chat backup gets stuck, but it definitely gives tension to the users. In the last about a year, this bug is being seen in Whatsapp. Sometimes it has also been seen that due to this the entire chat history gets deleted. However, now a user on the social media platform Reddit has suggested a way to overcome this problem.

According to the solution given by the users, Whatsapp users have to follow these steps to prevent the chat history from getting stuck-
step 1: First go to Google Drive and unlink your Whatsapp account. For this go to https://drive.google.com, log in to your Google account. Then click on Settings > Manage app > Whatsapp Messenger (or Whatsapp Business) > Options > Disconnect from device. This way, if your chat history is saved on the device, they will be safe.
Step 2: Uninstall Whatsapp from your phone.
Step 3: Using File Manager, go to “User > Android > Media > Com.Whatsapp > Whatsapp > Database”. If you don’t find the WhatsApp database by clicking in this order, you can find the chat database at “Whatsapp > Database” or “User > Whatsapp > Database”. Select the newest entry in the folder, rename it to “msgstore.db”, but leave the .crypt extension as it is. For example, if the extension reads “.crypt12”, rename the file to “msgstore.db.crypt12”.

Step 4: Re-install Whatsapp on your phone and log in using the same phone number.
Step 5: After logging in, Whatsapp will try to find the latest database in Drive to get back your chat history. But since you’ve unlinked WhatsApp from Google Drive, WhatsApp will use the backup on your phone that you’ve renamed.
Step 6: After the chat history is restored using the backup on the phone, you can link your WhatsApp to Google Drive to save the chat history again. In this way, the problem of your chat history getting stuck at 100% will be solved.
