According to a recent report, WhatsApp is working on many new features for its app. Among the features are WhatsApp payments, groups and more, and these are currently being worked on. Some of these features have already been seen in the beta rollout, while the rest are expected to debut on the beta platform after development.
Perhaps the most important of these features is working on offering cashback to WhatsApp Payments users. A report by WABetaInfo shows a screenshot that captures the feature in action. The screenshot shows a push notification informing users that they will be able to get cashback on their next payment through WhatsApp Payments.
WABetaInfo says that cashback on WhatsApp Payments will be available in the coming updates. Once completed, it is likely to offer users up to Rs 10 cashback on WhatsApp payments usage, though the report mentions that this limit may change as the rollout nears.
The report also clarifies that the cashback feature will be applicable only for UPI payments in India and will be credited to the user’s account within 48 hours. While not much is known about this feature yet, we can expect cashback programs like Paytm to be run by WhatsApp in the country so that its payments feature can be adopted in the country.
new features of whatsapp group
In the last beta update, WhatsApp was seen introducing some new features for WhatsApp group users. For Android, WhatsApp 2.21.20.2 beta brings a new group icon editor feature. This feature will allow users to create icons for groups that can be placed as group display images instead of photos. Users will also be able to select a background color to go with the icon.
In addition, WhatsApp is also working on a new design for the group info page on WhatsApp for iOS. The new design brings larger chat and call buttons than before and now puts them front and center for easy access. This latest redesign was spotted in WhatsApp for iOS beta variant 2.21.190.15 and is expected to be made public soon.
