Apple is making full preparations for the iPhone 13, but in the meantime many leaks of the phone are coming out. In such a situation, now the company has started taking legal action.
The company is troubled by the leaks of the iPhone 13
Apple is preparing to launch the iPhone 13 this September. But before this many leaks have come to the fore. In such a situation, now the phone’s cover (case) has also started coming in the market regarding how the design of the phone will be and how many cameras will be behind it. In view of this, Apple has now started taking necessary steps because people have started buying these covers. The company is warning customers that they should not buy any such cover because till now it is not known how the design of the next iPhone will be.
The company has taken action against the leaks and has also made a legal appeal. Apple recently sent a letter to a Chinese national blaming him for advertising a stolen prototype of the upcoming iPhone series on social media. In the letter, Apple asked the individual to stop such activities as they could have a negative financial impact on Apple’s accessory makers.
As seen via Motherboard, Apple’s letter argued that such leaks and rumors about its upcoming products could mislead companies that make accessories for Apple’s products. This includes manufacturers of iPhone cases, chargers and other such accessories.
The letter said that such companies can base their future products like iPhone cases and other accessories on these leaks and rumours. In the meantime, if Apple decides to change any details of its device by the time of launch, the accessories by such companies will be completely incompatible and completely ruined.
This will in some cases cause financial loss to the accessories makers as well as the citizens. Furthermore, Apple argued that public knowledge prior to the release of their products went against the company’s “DNA”. Due to these leaks, not only do consumers suffer, apart from this, the commercial profit of the company also goes into loss.
Apple has mentioned in the letter that since the company is trying to keep this information confidential, it clearly has real and potential commercial value. Any leak of information about Apple’s unpublished and rumored products is thus “illegal disclosure of Apple’s trade secrets”.
This is not the first time that Apple has retaliated against leakers. The tech major reportedly asked its employees to wear “police-grade” body cameras recently to keep an eye on leaks. Along with this, the company also sent a warning to well-known tipsters known for leaking information about Apple products.
