RBI on digital frauds: RBI has said that the amount fraudulently withdrawn from the customer’s account will be returned to his bank account within 10 days after informing the bank within the stipulated time.

According to RBI, digital payments registered a growth of 30.19 percent in the financial year 2020-21. RBI’s Digital Payments Index reached 270.59 at the end of March 2021 from 207.84 in March 2020. The speed with which online transactions have been registered, the cases of digital fraud have also increased faster than that.

According to the information shared on the RBI website, if any wrong transaction has taken place from the account, then inform the bank as soon as possible. For specific information you can call on 14440. The matter has to be resolved within 90 days from the date of complaint to the bank.
Bank is not responsible for customer’s mistake
The Reserve Bank clearly says that if the customer’s account has been defrauded due to his mistake, that is, he must have shared confidential information like ATM PIN, credit card PIN, OTP, then he will have to compensate for such loss himself. Once the bank gets this information, even after that, if any kind of transaction happens, then it will be the responsibility of the bank. At the same time, if the data is stolen from the bank or due to the mistake of the bank, then the bank will compensate it.
No loss to the customer on the complaint within three days
If this fraud has happened due to the fault of any third party other than the bank or the customer, then the customer will not lose a single rupee if the complaint is made within three days. In case of complaint within 7 days, maximum 10 thousand per transaction or whichever is less in the transaction amount, will be the loss of the customer.
Will get money within 10 days
