According to reports, Blinken will hold talks with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. The two have already met each other thrice. The two met at the G-7 meeting in London, during S Jaishankar’s visit to the US and most recently at the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Summit in Italy.

The US Secretary of State’s visit comes at a time when US troops are returning from Afghanistan. The ongoing violence in Afghanistan due to the spread of Taliban is expected to be discussed in the meeting of the two leaders. India has fought vigorously for stability in Afghanistan.
Along with the diplomatic tension between the US and China, the India-China dispute can also be discussed in the meeting. Apart from this, some reports are claiming that vaccine supply to India can also be discussed with US pharma giants. During his US visit, Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held a meeting with his American counterpart Antony Blinken and discussed various topics.

Talking to the media, Jaishankar had said, ‘We discussed a lot of issues. I think the relationship between the two countries has strengthened a lot over the years and I am sure it will continue to be so. I want to thank the administration and America for their support in difficult times. Blinken had said that India supported America in the early days of COVID-19, which his country will always remember.
He had said, ‘Now we want to make sure that we stand for and with India.’ Blinken said that India and America are working together on many important challenges of our time. We are fighting covid-19 together. Jaishankar, who went on an official visit to the US, was the first cabinet minister from India to visit the US after Joe Biden became the US President on January 20.
