Mini bus overturned in Turkey (PTI)
In eastern Turkey, a mini bus carrying migrants caught fire after it overturned. 12 people have died in the incident and 20 others have been injured. The official Anadolu news agency reported this news on Sunday. The vehicle fell into a ditch during a late night journey near Yumakali in Van province, bordering Iran.
Television broadcasts showed emergency aid workers treating the wounded on the road and pulling the injured out of the rubble. Most expatriates from Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan often cross the Iranian border and enter Turkey before leaving for the western cities of Istanbul and Ankara.
Migrants increased amid deteriorating conditions in Afghanistan
Metin Korabatir, president of the Ankara-based Center for Asylum and Migration Studies, said plans to withdraw US forces from Afghanistan have led to an increase in the number of migrants and young people trying to come through the mountainous route. In June 2020, more than 60 migrants were killed when a boat sank in Lake Van. Turkey has been caught in a big trouble due to the wrong decisions of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
People struggling with ‘epidemic’ of inflation in Turkey
These days inflation in Turkey is breaking the back of the common man. In the midst of the Corona crisis, now severe inflation in Turkey is becoming the biggest problem for the people here. Here the inflation rate for June 2021 has reached the highest level of the last two years with 17.53 percent. Data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute shows that monthly consumer prices have also increased by 1.94 percent. In Turkey, the inflation rate has remained in double digits for the last four years. Actually, there is a steady decline in the currency lira here. There has also been a decrease in the monetary credit here. At the same time, the demand in the economy has also increased amid the improvement in the corona virus epidemic. Due to these reasons, there is such an increase in the inflation rate here. In July last year, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan removed the central bank governor from his post.
