The Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) has met Indian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ausaf Saeed on the Kashmir issue and the situation of Muslims in India.
OIC group of countries
Pakistan keeps playing various tricks to make the world in its favor on the Kashmir issue. Once again he has done something similar. In fact, on the request of Pakistan, the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) has jumped into the Kashmir conflict and the issue of Muslims in India. The OIC chief held a meeting with the Indian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia. In this meeting the issue of Indian Muslims was raised and a delegation was offered to be sent to India. In addition, a meeting was called for between India and Pakistan.
The OIC issued a statement saying that Indian Ambassador Ausaf Saeed had a courtesy meeting with OIC Secretary General Yusuf Al-Othaimeen in Jeddah on 5 July. The statement said that the OIC Secretary-General, during his meeting with Indian Ambassador Saeed, reviewed the reportedly worrying situation of Muslims in India and the ongoing conflict in Jammu and Kashmir.
No statement came from the Indian Embassy regarding the meeting
The meeting of the Indian Ambassador to the OIC Secretary General is very unusual in itself. So far no statement has come from the Indian Embassy or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in this regard. Two years ago, the then Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj attended the OIC meeting. UAE had invited India to this meeting. It was considered a major diplomatic victory for India. In protest, Pakistan boycotted the foreign ministers’ meeting held in March 2019. India did not get an invitation after this incident.
OIC has already held a meeting on Kashmir
It is noteworthy that in June last year, the OIC held an emergency meeting on Kashmir. Several resolutions regarding India were adopted in the Foreign Ministers’ meeting of the OIC Liaison Group constituted in 1994 on Jammu and Kashmir. Azerbaijan, Nigeria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey participated in the emergency meeting of foreign ministers of the OIC Liaison Group. OIC Secretary-General Dr Yusuf Al-Othaimeen said that the OIC is committed to the Islamic Summit, the Council of Foreign Ministers and peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir issue in accordance with international law.
