Delta Plus Variant : The Central Government said on Friday that 50 cases of Delta Plus variant of COVID-19 have been reported in the country. These cases have been found in 11 states. Maharashtra has the highest number of cases. ICMR Director General Balram Bhargava said in a press conference on Friday that cases of Delta Plus variant have also been found in 12 other countries. According to Dr. Bhargava, there are 20 cases of Delta Plus variant in Maharashtra. Nine cases have been found in Tamil Nadu, 7 in Madhya Pradesh, three in Kerala and one case each of delta plus variant in Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan and Karnataka.
Two patients have lost their lives due to the Delta Plus variant.
In Gujarat, Punjab also two cases of Delta Plus variant have been found. There is a case of this in Jammu. NCDC Director Sujit Singh said, “50 cases of Delta Plus variant have been found in 18 districts of India. So far, two patients of Delta Plus variant have lost their lives in the country. The Center has said that 90 percent of corona cases in India are due to the delta variant. COVID variants of concern have been found in 174 districts of 35 states and union territories of the country.
The maximum number of cases have been found in Maharashtra, Delhi, Punjab, Telangana, West Bengal and Gujarat. The government says that Covaccine and Covishield are effective against alpha, beta, gamma and delta variants of the coronavirus. It has been said towards the center that the country has not yet become free from the second wave of corona. Even now, there are more than ten percent cases of corona in 75 districts of the country. There are more than 5 to 10 percent corona cases in 92 districts.

The Delta variant was first found in Europe in March
The Delta variant was first detected in Europe in March this year. According to scientists, the delta variant (B.1.617.2) got mutated in the data plus (AY.1) variant. There is speculation that this mutant is more contagious and spreads 35-60 per cent faster than the alpha variant. Experts have warned that the Delta Plus variant may show resistance against the monoclonal antibody cocktail treatment. One concern is that this variant may also penetrate the vaccine and immunity to early infection.
