The Toyota vehicle distributor in Gujarat is all set to convert 200 of its Innova Multi Purpose Vehicles (MPVs) into ambulance vans at subsidized prices and offer them to legislators, parliamentarians and hospitals to use for the benefit of rural residents. Infinium Toyota will modify the interiors of the MPVs to convert them into ambulances, which will be equipped with oxygen cylinders, stretchers and other equipment.
Each of these 200 ambulance vans, which have a retail price of Rs 24.5 lakh, will be subsidized, bearing the cost between Rs 3 lakh to Rs 4.5 lakh per van. But after the subsidy, its price will be Rs 20.6 lakh. The agency said that in the form of donations either by MLAs, MPs or individuals/citizens who can voluntarily sponsor it.
Ajit Mehta, President, Infinium Toyota, said, “After several consultations with doctors from district level hospitals and experts from the medical fraternity, we are in dire need of transportation to transport COVID-19 patients to rural areas. By contributing through these ambulance vans, which are currently vital life saving connections for patients in hospitals, we are also doing our best in this fight against the pandemic.”
Infinium Toyota has started contacting MLAs and MPs and some have shown willingness to take advantage of this initiative. Ahmedabad West MP Kirit Solanki said, “There is a need for more ambulances in rural areas. This initiative of Infinium Toyota will be a big help to the rural population in this fight against COVID-19.
