RBI gave these suggestions in monetary policies
In its monetary policy statement, the RBI had suggested the Center and the states to reduce taxes and surcharges on petrol and diesel, cautioning against rising inflation. In order to reduce the rising cost due to expensive oil, the Center and the states needed to adjust the excise duty, surcharge and taxes. The RBI had predicted an increase in inflation due to rising international prices of commodities like crude oil and increase in logistics cost.
