Tesla has started preparations in full swing to enter the Indian market. The company has started hiring for managerial and leadership roles in India. Bloomberg has released a report based on a source saying that the California-based electric vehicle giant has started hiring for positions such as head of sales and marketing and head of human resources.
Based on the tweet by the Tesla Fan Club, the company has also recruited a senior legal council. Tesla Prashant R. Menon as Country Director for Tesla India and his job is to oversee the company’s launch in India. Menon has been working with Tesla for the last four years.
Keeping an eye on the decisions of the government
It has been said in this report that the company is constantly monitoring the announcements being made by the central and state governments regarding the Good-and-Sales Tax, whose main objective is to reduce the cost of purchase of electric vehicles. Along with this, the company is also monitoring the incentives being given to EV makers under the EV Production-Linked Incentive Program.
Under the PLI scheme, the manufacturing incentive in India will be increased every year so that they can make their products in India and export them all over the world. Last month, the ministry approved a plan worth Rs 181 billion ($2.5 billion) to expand battery storage capacity to 50 GW.
Tesla is looking for these things since the beginning of the year
Since the beginning of this year, Tesla has been looking for locations in India for its showroom, R&D centre, office and factory. In January, Tesla opened a company in India in the name of Tesla India Motors and Energy Private Limited in Bangalore, Karnataka. Along with this, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa had also confirmed that the company will set up its first plant in Bengaluru. According to the latest report, the company is going to build its first office in Lower Parel-Worli area of Mumbai. Tesla will launch its most affordable Model 3 sedan in India later this year.
