If you are also engaged in booking the slots of COVID-19 Vaccination, then there is no need to worry because soon you will be able to book slots through the third party application as well. The government has released a new guideline for the Co-WIN app in which third party apps can be allowed to manage registration, scheduling and vaccination. This is an update to the existing framework where developers can allow the availability of slots and downloading vaccination certificates through their apps.
This update has come to light when India is struggling with the shortage of COVID-19 vaccine and due to this people are also having difficulty in finding slots on Co-WIN. The new APIs will give app developers the option to register and schedule appointments and directly manage COVID-19 vaccination and facility on their behalf. Changes regarding the developer will be made in the master database being maintained for Co-WIN.
So far, the government’s Arogya Setu App and Umang are two such apps that can make appointments for the COVID-19 vaccine. Apart from this, information on availability and slot appointments will also be available in third party apps. Recently the government has revised the public API for the Co-WIN app to differentiate third-party apps from delivering appointment data, making COVID-19 vaccine availability information available on apps such as Paytm and HealthifyMe .
Apart from this, the government has also given a designated email address for developers to register private APIs of the CoWIN app. This guideline also states that this registration will be a mandate for developers who are using the Co-WIN public API.
