How to check IT refund status: The Income Tax Department said on Wednesday that it has issued a refund of Rs 24,792 crore to more than 15 lakh taxpayers till May 17 in the current financial year. The department has issued a tweet saying that the amount of personal income tax refund in this amount is Rs 7,458 crore. While 17,334 crore rupees have been refunded under company tax. The department said that CBDT has issued refunds of Rs 24,792 crore to more than 15 lakh taxpayers during the period from April 1, 2021 to May 17, 2021.
The department said that personal income tax refunds of Rs 7,458 crore have been issued in 14.98 lakh cases, while company tax refunds of Rs 17,334 crore have been issued in 43,661 cases. The Income Tax Department, however, did not specify the financial year for the refund. But it is believed that this refund is for the tax return filed for the financial year 2019-20.
According to the department, it has issued 2.62 lakh crore refunds to 2.38 crore taxpayers during the financial year 2020-21, ending on 31 March. Refunds issued in the financial year 2020-21 are 43.2 percent higher than the refunds of Rs 1.83 lakh crore issued in the financial year 2019-20.

Let us know that when it is submitted after filing the income tax return and its verification, then the Income Tax Department starts investigating it. If your claim is accepted, then the refund is refunded to you directly through your bank account or check with the amount of interest. However, processing of ITR takes some time.
- Click on the option given on the Dashboard on the Tax Department website. After this, click on ‘View Return and Form’. After clicking, go to the Income Tax Return page, click on ‘Income Tax Return’. After visiting the income tax return page, you will see that either your ITR has been processed or is pending for verification or verification.
- If it shows that your ITR has not been verified yet, with the help of your Aadhaar, you can request to verify again or sign the signed ITR-V form from the common post or speed post of the Indian Post Office. Send it to the tax CPC office.
- Until written successfully verified. Till then you will have to wait for your refund to return.
- If you have not processed the ITR, then the taxpayer can file a complaint petition to the CPC or Assessing Officer. With the help of this petition, the taxpayer can request the tax department to speed up its ITR processing.
