The dispute, which began with a violent clash between Palestinian protesters and the Israeli police in Jerusalem, has now reached rocket attacks. Israel has retaliated by taking Gaza Strip from the Gaza Strip and targeting the terrorist bases located there. The Palestinian Health Ministry, run by Hamas, said that 20 people, including children, have died in Israeli airstrikes. At the same time, the Israeli parliament had to be evacuated due to the Hamas attack on Israel, because the warning sirens started ringing.
In recent times, tensions between Israel and Palestine have increased significantly. On Monday, demonstrations took place inside and outside the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. During this, there has been a violent clash between the Israeli police and the Palestinian protesters, in which hundreds of people were injured. On this, Hamas threatened Israel and said that it would retaliate. In fact, Palestinian families living in the Sheikh Jarrah district in Jerusalem were asked to evacuate, so that Jewish settlers could be settled here. Demonstrations are being held in Jerusalem for the last few days only.
Israel will respond strictly to Hamas: Netanyahu
Israel said that it has piled at least three Hamas terrorists. Army spokesman Lt. Col. Johnathan Konaricus said that we have started targeting military bases in Gaza. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Hamas had crossed the borders and Israel would now respond to them vigorously. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that Hamas should stop rocket attacks immediately. He said that all sides need to work towards reducing tension.
What happened in Al-Aqsa Mosque?
Israeli police said thousands of Palestinians barged into the building at night. During this time these people had taken stones and petrol bombs. Officers were ordered to enter the mosque and drive out the protesters. Earlier on Monday, the police was stoned on the day itself. The police used rubber bullets and tear gas shells to control the protesters for about an hour. During this, the protesters kept throwing stones at the police.
The Palestinian Red Crescent said 305 Palestinians were injured in the conflict and 228 were taken to the hospital for treatment. The condition of seven of them is critical. The Israeli police force said that 21 of its officers were injured in the incident and three people had to be hospitalized for treatment. Clashes between Palestinians and Israeli police have also been reported from the northern Israeli city of Haifa.
What is the reason for the dispute?
Israel captured East Jerusalem after the 1967 war in the Middle East. After this, the whole city was considered its capital. However, it is not recognized by the international community. The Palestinian people believe that once their country is free, East Jerusalem will be the capital of their country. The reason for the current controversy is the evacuation of Palestinian families from the Sheikh Jarrah District in East Jerusalem. There are plans to settle Jewish settlers (people who are settled in Palestine), which Palestinians are demonstrating.
