Boris Johnson Invited Leaders For Talks: British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has called for a conference related to COVID to bring together the leaders of the Scottish and Wales governments. Earlier, after the election results, there has been a renewed demand for another referendum for independence in Scotland (Scotland and UK Separation). The Independence-backed Scottish National Party (SNP), led by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, won the election on Thursday but has missed a seat in the Scottish parliament, Holyrood, winning a clear majority.
The results of the election are clear on Sunday. Sturgeon then announced that it was a mandate to hold a second referendum for Scotland’s independence (Scotland UK). The first referendum was held in 2014 and people voted against the separation of Scotland from Britain. After winning the election, Sturgeon said, “Given the results of this election, Boris Johnson or anyone else has no democratic justification for blocking the right of the people of Scotland to choose their future.”
Johnson rejected the idea of referendum
He said that if the people of Scotland vote for the pro-independence party in the Scottish Parliament, then it is the will of the country and no leader has the right to come in that way (Scotland UK Brexit). On the other hand, Johnson has rejected the idea of a second referendum and is looking at an agenda of better construction for the whole of Britain in the wake of COVID-19. In a letter to Sturgeon, Johnson said, ‘I believe that when we worked together, the interests of the whole of Britain, especially Scotland, were taken care of. We have shown this during the beginning of the vaccination campaign as well.
‘British government will work in a collaborative spirit’
He said, ‘I promise again that the Government of Britain will work in a spirit of cooperation with the Government of Scotland.’ A similar letter has also been issued to First Minister Mark Drakeford, whose Labor Party has won again in Wales and won 30 seats in the ‘Wales Senead’. But she has missed one seat to get a simple majority but has enough seats to form a minority government.
