Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa announced the lockdown in the entire state on Monday, April 27 from 9 pm to 9 May. The Chief Minister did this after the meeting of the Declaration Cabinet. According to Yeddyurappa, essential shops will be open daily from 6 am to 10 am. He informed that no public transport will be available during this period.
The state government will issue separate guidelines later in the day. Some members of the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) held a meeting on 24 April in Karnataka and the state capital Bengaluru due to rising cases of corona virus. He suggested a two-week long lockdown to the government. Accepting his recommendation, the government has decided for a two-week lockdown.
Free vaccine also announced to people between 18 and 45 years of age
State Chief Minister Yeddyurappa also announced a free vaccine for people between the ages of 18 and 45 in the state after a cabinet meeting. BS Yeddyurappa on Thursday approved the purchase of one crore doses of COVID-19 vaccine at a price of Rs 400 crore. The vaccine dose will be applied to citizens between the ages of 18 and 44 years from May 1.
According to Yeddyurappa, medical and essential services, manufacturing, construction, agri-horticulture sectors will be allowed. He told that there will be no restriction on inter-state movement of goods. State Chief Secretary P Ravi Kumar will release the guidelines on the lockdown till this evening.

Record cases on Sunday in the state
Meanwhile, Karnataka saw the highest number of 34,804 new cases in a single day on Sunday, taking the total number of cases in the state to 13.39 lakhs. However, 143 people died. So far, the total number of deaths in the state has reached 14,426. The state health department gave this information. In Bengaluru urban alone, 20,733 cases have been reported. 6,982 patients a day were discharged after recovery.
