Loss of 46 thousand crores in 10 days
According to Pravin Khandelwal, Secretary General of the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), there is an estimated business loss of 600 crores a day due to the lockdown, while full lockdown, partial lockdown, night curfew and other restrictions across the country. Due to this, there is estimated to be a loss of 30 thousand crore rupees every day. According to CAT, till last Tuesday, due to 10 days of night curfew and partial lockdown in many states, businessmen lost 46 thousand crores, of which 32 thousand crores were lost to wholesale business.
Abhinav Singh, a shop owner at Karol Bagh Market in Delhi, says that the clothing business is still not in the pre-Corona condition and the lockdown is going to cause more damage. Similar is the situation with shopkeepers with groceries and food items.
Restrictions continue in most states due to COVID
Due to the second wave of Corona epidemic, the state governments have imposed restriction. Today, on the night of 19 April, till the morning of 26 April, there will be a lockdown in Delhi, then the weekend lockdown is in Maharashtra. Apart from this, Uttar Pradesh government has announced night curfew in districts with lockdown and more than 500 cases across the state every Sunday. Night curfew has been imposed in other states including Odisha, Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat and Bihar.
