CBSE Class 10th and 12th Board exams: The government on Wednesday announced the cancellation of the Class 10 CBSE board examinations and postpone the class 12 examination. The Ministry of Education informed that the results of class 10th will be prepared on the basis of alternative criteria developed by the board. Class 12th exams will be held later, the board will review the situation on June 1. Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has said that the students of class 10 will be promoted on the basis of internal assessment. If the student is not satisfied with the assessment, then once the situation is normal, he can sit the exam.
Exams were to start from May 4
Prior to taking this decision, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the top officials of the Ministry of Education. From May 4, class 10 and class 12 exams were to be held first.
According to the report of Indian Express, it was clarified that there is no option to cancel or online examinations for the students of class 12th. An official said that CBSE is a national board whose students are spread all over the country. It is not possible to conduct online examination on short notice. According to them, how will the students become aware of themselves with the online pattern so soon.
This announcement has come amid the rising corona virus cases across the country. State governments and students were also demanding to postpone the board examinations.

Kejriwal, Rahul Gandhi appealed
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday appealed to the Central Government to reconsider the examination schedule. Maharashtra had also made similar demands, in which it had sought to form a national consensus with the Ministry of Education and postpone the examinations of CBSE and other school boards of class 10th and 12th, if possible. This demand was also supported by the opposition. Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had asked Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal to intervene and rethink the CBSE before proceeding with their decision.
