Nepal Asks India to Facilitate Supply of Vaccine: The Foreign Minister of Nepal, Pradeep Kumar Gyawali has talked to his Indian counterpart S. Jaishankar. During this time, he requested for smooth supply of COVID-19 anti-vaccine (Corona Vaccine). The Foreign Ministry said that during a phone conversation with Jaishankar, Giwali discussed cooperation in dealing with the Coronavirus Pandemic. The Foreign Ministry said, “During the talks, the two sides exchanged views on intensifying efforts to deal with the COVID-19 epidemic.”
A statement said, ‘Foreign Minister Gianwali thanked the Government of India (Indian Vaccines to Nepal) for cooperation in handling the COVID-19 epidemic and for giving one million doses of Kovishield vaccine.’ Giwali requested Jaishankar to make necessary arrangements for the supply of vaccine so that the second dose of vaccine could be given to those at higher risk. At this time there is a lot of uproar over the lack of vaccine. This is seen not only in India but also in many countries of the world.
More than 87 percent of the dose was given to rich countries
At the same time, the head of the World Health Organization (WHO) has said that out of the more than 700 million doses of corona virus vaccine given worldwide, more than 87 percent have been given to the rich countries. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that on average one in four people in rich countries got at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while in low-income countries only one in 500 people Has been vaccinated.
Imbalance in the global distribution of vaccines
“There is a shocking imbalance in the global distribution of the vaccine,” Tedrus said in a media briefing on Friday. He described the UN-supported initiative ‘COVAX’ (COVAX) for fair distribution of vaccines as a robust system of delivery of the vaccine faster and more effectively than any other system (WHO on Coronavirus Vaccines). Tedrus said that Kovacs has so far supplied around 38 million doses worldwide. He condemned countries directly supplying vaccines to other countries rather than through Kovacs.
