The capital of China (Beijing) has turned pale. On Monday morning, the sky of Beijing appeared surrounded by thick dust. Actually, dusty high speed winds from Mongolia and northwest China (Sandstorm) have reached Beijing. Due to this, the color of the sky of the capital has changed from blue to yellow.
China’s Meteorological Administration has announced a ‘Yellow Alert’ on Monday morning. It said that dust storms from Mongolia have spread to Gansu, Shanxi and Hebei provinces. These provinces surround Beijing, due to which there is dust in the sky.
Beijing’s official air quality index reached a maximum level of 500 on Monday morning. Particles identified as PM 10 reached 2,000 micrograms per cubic meter in some districts.
At the same time, small particles of dust harmful to lungs in the capital of China, measured as PM 2.5, have reached 300 micrograms per cubic meter. This is much higher than the 35 micrograms per cubic meter set by China.
Large-scale forests are harvested in the Gobi Desert as well as in northern China, which has become a problem for Beijing, with the environment dangerous. Beijing regularly faces dust storms in March and April.
