Triumph Motorcycles has prepared an aggressive strategy for the Indian market. The company has announced that it will launch 9 new bikes in India in the next 6 months, including some special additions. Triumph plans to strengthen its position in the country’s premium bike market. Triumph India expects to register 20-25 per cent growth in its current financial year. However, in the calendar year 2020, the company’s sales growth may remain almost flat, due to which there is zero turnover in the first three months of the year due to the epidemic.
Currently selling 16 bikes
Triumph India currently sells 16 motorcycles including Rocket 3R, Rocket 3GT in India. These include everything from modern classics to adventure bikes. Shoaib Farukh, business head of Triumph Motorcycle India, says that we are planning to launch 9 new models between January and June next year. Some of these will be special editions of our existing product range. This will be the first time when we will add special additions to our portfolio. New launches include the Trident 660, the new Tiger 850 Sport. Farrukh said that Triumph is going to enter a completely new segment in the Indian bike industry.
Premium bike segment dropped by 38% in a year
In the last 12 months, the premium motorcycle segment has fallen about 35-38 per cent. According to Farooq, however, Triumph has done well despite this decline. In the last 6-7 months, we recorded almost as many sales as we had in the previous year. Sales have increased 12 percent since July.
