Prime Minister Narendra Modi (Narendra Modi) addressed the 15th G20 Summit on Sunday. In his address, PM Modi gave his views on many issues including climate change. PM Modi said that climate change should not be fought behind closed doors but should be fought in an integrated, comprehensive and holistic manner. He said that the whole world will be able to progress more rapidly if the developing countries have more support of technology and finance.
PM Modi said that our focus is on protecting the citizens and economy from the epidemic, but it is equally important to focus on the fight against climate change. Prime Minister Modi said that by 2030, we have set a target to restore 2.60 crore hectares of poor land again.
India meeting the goals of Paris Agreement
Addressing the G20 side event on the topic ‘Safeguarding the Planet’, PM Modi said that India is not only meeting the goals of its Paris Agreement, but also surpassing them. Inspired by our traditional ethos of living in harmony with the environment and in line with my government’s commitment, India has adopted low carbon and climate-resilient development systems.
Talking about the importance of solar energy, PM Modi said that the International Solar Alliance is one of the fastest-growing international organizations. We plan to raise billions of dollars, train thousands of stakeholders and promote research and development in renewable energy. It further stated that the ISA will contribute to reducing the carbon footprint.
