A skier died after hitting a tree on a Wachusett Mountain superior path Monday morning, a “tragic loss” that State Police at the moment are investigating.
Wachusett Ski patrol responded to an incident involving a 67-year-old male skier at round 9:25 a.m. on Monday. The skier had reportedly struck a tree on a complicated path, and the person was discovered unresponsive by one other skier who was passing by.
Wachusett ski patrollers introduced the person to the underside of the mountain and offered emergency care to him earlier than handing his care over to first responders.
“Unfortunately, we have since learned that the skier has passed away,” Wachusett Mountain Ski Area stated in an announcement. “The whole Wachusett household is grieving this tragic loss.
“All of our thoughts are with the skier’s family and friends,” the ski space added.
State Police detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office and Crime Scene Services personnel responded to analyze, together with Princeton Police.
The Worcester DA’s Office stated in an announcement, “State Police Detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office are investigating the death of a man in an apparent skiing accident on Wachusett Mountain Monday morning. The investigation remains ongoing at this time. The identity of the victim will not be released at this time pending family notifications.”
